She had a private room which was very nice and a good size. The other thing that I noticed that I thought was positive was that when you come in, there’s a very nice outdoor courtyard space. Being as it’s in Lower Manhattan which doesn’t have that much outdoor space, that part of it was nice and she enjoyed that. I was only there for 45 minutes but I guess it was pretty good. She said the food was mediocre, not bad, and not good, but I have not tried it. Compared to the other places that I’ve seen in the past years, I think this place rates well.

ArchCare at Terence Cardinal Cooke Health Care Center is a Catholic nursing home. It’s very well-run, clean and their physical therapy facility where my uncle is at is also very well run. For cleanliness and overall care like with meals, I would rate them a 5. But for the nursing care managers, they’re overloaded with work so they can’t give the families the attention they are looking for. They are overworked and they don’t have enough administration as big as that nursing home is.
When I didn't eat because I did not like what was brought to me, I would go to the coffee shop & get whatever I wanted. The fact that the facility had a coffee shop on the premises blew my mind! The aides would answer the call button very quickly. If it was for bedpan duties, the aides NEVER made me feel humiliated, which was my biggest fear. That whole bedpan thing, in my opinion, is the most undignified & humiliating experience for anyone. And at 60 yrs of age you don't want anyone cleaning your privates.

It was hard to get a hold of the nurse who was the case manager of my uncle’s situation, our calls would not be returned. So with the administration aspect, a lot of work needs to be done. But the staff was pleasant when I interacted with them, although there will always be 1 or 2 who weren’t so pleasant.

Not once did they rehab my knee and when I questioned why the only answer I rcv'd was that that was they way they PT'd you. So I was expecting the worse at St. Cabrini and surprisingly, they were awesome. If you're considering rehab after joint replacent, St. Cabrini is the place to go. Before you leave there, the after-care manager, Kim, will make sure you will be covered for all services. I loved this place and if I ever have to do rehab again for any reason, I am definitely going to St. Cabrini.
The kitchen, janitorial, therapist , nurses assistant, nurses, P.A. Initially, I was quite apprehensive about receiving my rehab at a nursing home. When I was transported to this facility, I was extremely impressed not only with the grounds but with the cleanliness and the Parrots, river views , and lovely decks made it complete. The rehab folks were pretty good in physical therapy.
